Teaser Trailer To Julie Taymor’s The Glorias with Janelle Monáe As Dorothy Pitman Hughes
Roadside Flix has released a teaser trailer for Julie Taymor’s forthcoming Gloria Steinem biopic film titled The Glorias, featuring Academy Award winner Julianne Moore (Still Alice) as she portrays one of the key figures of the revolutionary women’s movement. The film will be available for streaming on September 30 on Amazon Prime Video as well as on Digital.
Journalist, fighter, and feminist Gloria Steinem is an indelible icon known for her world-shaping activism, guidance of the revolutionary women’s movement, and writing that has impacted generations. In this nontraditional biopic, Julie Taymor crafts a complex tapestry of one of the most inspirational and legendary figures of modern history, based on Steinem’s own biographical book ‘My Life on the Road.’ The Glorias traces Steinem’s influential journey to prominence—from her time in India as a young woman, to the founding of Ms. magazine in New York, to her role in the rise of the women’s rights movement in the 1960s, to the historic 1977 National Women’s Conference and beyond.
The film includes a number of iconic women who made profound contributions to the women’s movement, including Dorothy Pitman Hughes, Flo Kennedy, Bella Abzug, Dolores Huerta and Wilma Mankiller. It features a great ensemble female cast led by Julianne Moore, Alicia Vikander, Bette Midler, Janelle Monáe, Lorraine Toussaint, Lulu Wilson, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, and Kimberly Guerrero.
Janelle Monáe will play the civil rights activist Dorothy Pitman Hughes, who co-founded Ms. magazine with Gloria Steinem
Based on Steinem’s book titled My Life on the Road, The Glorias is directed by Julie Taymor, who adapted the screenplay with Sarah Ruhl. The film had its world premiere earlier this year at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.
