Netflix has released the trailer and poster for war drama Mosul, written and directed by Matthew Michael Carnahan and produced by Anthony and Joe Russo. The film will hit the streaming service on Thursday, November 26.

Mosul stars Suhail Dabbach, Adam Bessa, Is’Haq Elias, Qutaiba F. Abdelhaq, Ahmad El Ghanem, Hicham Ouraqa, and Mohimen Mahbuba.

When ISIS took their homes, families and city, one group of men fought to take it all back. After inexperienced Iraqi cop Kawa (Adam Bessa) is rescued from a harrowing firefight by the elite Nineveh SWAT team, he’s quickly inducted into the rogue squadron, a band of ten brothers-in-arms led by the wise Major Jasem (Suhail Dabbach).

Under constant threat of attack, the unit embarks on a dangerous guerrilla operation, determined to wipe out an enemy base and restore order to the lawless territory. Mosul is an extraordinary true story of heroism in the face of overwhelming odds.

The executive producers include Todd Makurath, Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, Mohamed Al-Daradji, Patrick Newall, Wang Zhongjun, Wang Zhonglei, and Felice Bee.

Produced by AGBO and Condé Nast Entertainment, Mosul explores the true story of an elite police unit made up almost entirely of native sons of Mosul and their desperate fight, block-by-block to reclaim their city. The movie is based on an extraordinary feat of journalism by Luke Mogelson in The New Yorker in which he embedded with the unit for two months.
