Trailer To Starz’s ‘Blindspotting’ Series
STARZ released the official trailer and key art today for its new comedy series “Blindspotting,” created and executive produced by Rafael Casal (“The Good Lord Bird,” Bad Education) and Daveed Diggs (“Snowpiercer,” Hamilton), who both also starred in the film in addition to writing and producing it. The new STARZ original series will premiere worldwide on Sunday, June 13 at 9:00PM ET/PT across all STARZ platforms in the U.S. and Canada and will air day and date internationally on the STARZPLAY premium streaming platform across its complete footprint in Europe, Latin America and Japan. “Blindspotting” will also make its World Premiere debut as an Official Selection of Tribeca Film Festival on Friday, June 11.
“Blindspotting” picks up six months after the film and centers on Ashley, who is nipping at the heels of a middle-class life in Oakland until Miles, her partner of 12 years and father of their son, is suddenly incarcerated, leaving her to navigate a chaotic and humorous existential crisis when she is forced to move in with Miles’ mother and half-sister.
The series, which exemplifies STARZ #TakeTheLead commitment, stars Jasmine Cephas Jones (“#FreeRayshawn,” Hamilton) as “Ashley”; Benjamin Turner (recording artist) as “Earl,” who is fresh out of prison, wearing an ankle monitor and just trying to kill time and lay low; Candace Nicholas-Lippman (“Good Trouble”) as “Janelle,” Ashley’s close friend who’s just returned to the neighborhood after spending many years in Bali; Jaylen Barron (“Shameless,” “Free Reign”) as “Trish,” Miles’ half-sister, who might be wilder than he is; Atticus Woodward (“Shameless”) as “Sean,” Ashley and Miles’ sweet, smart and energetic son; Helen Hunt (“Mad About You,” Twister) as “Rainey,” Miles’ mother who has strong opinions and holds family above all else; and Rafael Casal who reprises his role as “Miles,” Ashley’s ride-or-die partner of 12 years and father of their son.
Jess Wu Calder and Keith Calder of Snoot Entertainment (One Night in Miami, Anomalisa), reunite with Casal and Diggs as executive producers on the series after the quartet spent almost a decade working to bring the feature film to life. Also serving as executive producers are Emily Gerson Saines, Ken Lee, and Tim Palen of Barnyard Projects. The series is produced for Starz by Lionsgate Television.
