Trailer to Tayarisha Poe’s The Young Wife, starring Kiersey Clemons
Republic Pictures, a label under Paramount Pictures, has released the trailer to director Tayarisha Poe’s The Young Wife, which hits digital on May 31.
In “The Young Wife,” Kiersey Clemons portrays a young woman on the verge of what she calls a “non-wedding,” a celebration that unravels the traditional notions of matrimony. As the pressures from family and friends mount, Clemons’ character finds herself in a spiral of panic, questioning the very foundation of her relationship just before the anticipated celebration.
Grammy winning R&B artist Leon Bridges (in his acting debut), Sheryl Lee Ralph, Judith Light, Kelly Marie Tran, Aya Cash, and Michaela Watkins also star in the feature with Connor Paolo, Aida Osman, Lukita Maxwell, Sandy Honig, Brandon Micheal Hall, and Jon Rudnitsky, rounding out the cast.
Poe is known for her debut film “Selah and the Spades,” which premiered at Sundance and then released on Amazon.
Archer Gray’s Anne Carey produces, Amy Nauiokas is an executive producer and Rebecca Choi co-produces. The film was fully financed by FilmNation, with Ashley Fox serving as executive producer for the company.
