Amanda Warren Joins Netflix’s The Night Agent As Series Regular For Season 2
Deadline reports that Amanda Warren has been tapped for a new role in the second season of Netflix‘s smash hit series The Night Agent, from creator Shawn Ryan and Sony Pictures Television.
The actress joins returning cast that includes Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan.
Based on Matthew Quirk’s same-name NYT bestseller of 2019, the show sees the FBI’s Peter Sutherland (Basso) manning a phone in the basement of the White House that never rings — until the night that it does, propelling him into a fast moving and dangerous conspiracy that ultimately leads all the way to the Oval Office.
Warren will portray Catherine Weaver, a veteran of the top-secret Night Action investigative program, who trains and oversees various Night Agents, including Basso’s new recruit, Sutherland. Smart, private and determined, Catherine is a fierce defender of her agents, but finds it difficult to earn Peter’s trust when he struggles with betrayal issues from his experiences in Season 1.
The next 10-episode installment of the conspiracy action-thriller will be released sometime next year. In addition to serving as showrunner, Ryan exec produces for MiddKid Productions, alongside Seth Gordon and Julia Gunn for Exhibit A; MiddKid’s Marney Hochman; Jamie Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein and Nicole Tossou for Project X; and David Beaubaire for Sunset Lane Media.
Warren recently starred opposite Jamie Foxx in Maggie Betts’ acclaimed legal drama The Burial, which is streaming on Prime Video. Previously, she led the CBS cop drama East New York, also appearing in significant roles on Apple TV+’s Dickinson, Max’s Gossip Girl reboot, CBS’s Madam Secretary, USA Network’s The Purge, HBO’s The Leftovers and more.
On the feature side, Warren has appeared in Reinaldo Marcus Green’s feature directorial debut Monsters and Men, along with Dan Gilroy’s Roman J. Israel, Esq., Darren Aronofsky’s Mother! and the Martin McDonagh pics Seven Psychopaths and Three Billboards.
