Issa Rae To Host ‘Saturday Night Live’ On Oct. 17 With Justin Bieber As Musical Guest
Comedian Issa Rae, the creator, star and executive producer of the award-winning HBO comedy series “Insecure,” will host the Oct. 17 edition of Saturday Night Live, with musical guest Justin Bieber.
Rae will be 13th black woman to host. In November of 2017, Tiffany Haddish hosted the show. Oscar winner Octavia Spencer hosted the show in 2016, and Taraji P. Henson had the honors during its 40th Anniversary in 2015. Scandal star Kerry Washington hosted the show in November 2013. Former SNL member Maya Rudolph was the host in February 2012 and before that Gabourey Sidibe hosted in early 2010. Rosario Dawson did it in 2009 , fiver years after Janet Jackson had the honors in 2004. Halle Berry hosted back in 2003. Queen Latifah has done it twice, first in 2003 and served as host/musical guest in 2004. Cicely Tyson was the fisrt back in 1979, followed by Oprah Winfrey in 1986.
