Class Of ‘09 Cast Interviews with Kate Mara, Brian J. Smith, Sepideh Moafi & Exec Producers
Set to premiere on May 10 of FX is Class of ’09, a suspense thriller limited series that follows a class of FBI agents set in three distinct points in time who grapple with immense changes as the U.S. criminal justice system is altered by artificial intelligence.
Spanning multiple decades and told across interweaving timelines, the series examines the nature of justice, humanity and the choices we make that ultimately define our lives and legacy. The series takes place across three distinct time periods: The Past (2009), The Present (2023) and The Future (2034).
The series stars Brian Tyree Henry as “Tayo,” one of the most unorthodox agents to ever join the bureau, and Kate Mara as “Poet,” one of the most successful undercover agents of all time. Sepideh Moafi plays Hour Nazari, an Iranian-American Special Agent who becomes involved with the agency's Cybersecurity Division. Brian J. Smith is Daniel Lennix, an Executive Associate Assistant Director and former lawyer. Also in the cast are Jon Jon Briones (“Gabriel”), Brooke Smith (“Drew”), Jake McDorman (“Murphy”) and Rosalind Eleazar (“Vivienne”) round out the cast.
The limited series is created and executive produced by Tom Rob Smith for FX. Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Zanne Devine, Jessica Levin and Joe Robert Cole also serve as executive producers.
Mara most recently starred in the FX on Hulu drama A Teacher. She previously appeared in Pose, American Horror Story, and Nip/Tuck at FX as well, and has previously starred in shows such as House of Cards. Her film roles include Shooter, We Are Marshall, Brokeback Mountain, Fantastic Four and Megan Leavey.
Moafi was last seen starring in both Apple TV+ dramas Black Bird and In With the Devil and also played Gigi Ghorbani in Showtime’s The L Word: Generation Q.
Smith recently wrapped filming Warner Bros.’ Matrix 4. On the television side, he recently appeared in USA Network’s Treadstone and BBC’s World on Fire.
