Exclusive: Albert Hughes on producing and directing The Continental: From The World of John Wick
Hitting Peacock this week is The Continental: From The World of John Wick, with the first episode premiering on Friday, Sept. 22, and the remaining episodes streaming weekly on Fridays.
The Continental is the three-episode prequel that focuses on the Gotham-based hotel that is a fulcrum for the crime syndicate John Wick is a reluctant part of. The series is set in the ‘70s and 40 years before the events of the Wick series and focuses on the origins of Ian McShane’s Winston and Lance Reddick’s Charon, his right hand man. The hotel is run by Cormac, an insecure and psychotic caretaker whose tenuous hold over the hotel causes him to do frightful things.
The Continental stars Mel Gibson (Cormac), Colin Woodell (Winston Scott), Mishel Prada (KD), Ben Robson (Frankie), Hubert Point-Du Jour (Miles), Nhung Kate (Yen), Jessica Allain (Lou), Ayomide Adegun (Charon), Jeremy Bobb (Mayhew), and Peter Greene (Uncle Charlie).
Katie McGrath, Ray McKinnon, Mark Musashi, and Marina Mazepa will appear as guest stars.
Albert Hughes directed the first and third of the action packed episodes (Lord of the Rings’ Charlotte Brandstrom directed the middle ep). Hughes, long half of The Hughes Brothers, co-directed with twin brother Allen The Book Of Eli, Menace II Society, From Hell, and Dead Presidents. His first solo outing as director was the prehistoric drama Alpha.
