Exclusive: Burn Gorman, Matthew Goode and Colin Hanks talks Paramount+ Series ‘The Offer’

Currently playing on Paramount+ is the ten-episode limited series “The Offer” which explores the production of Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather”.

THE OFFER is based on Oscar®-winning producer Albert S. Ruddy’s extraordinary, never-before-seen experiences of making “The Godfather.” From budget constraints to an unwilling director, to other failed gangster movies, the production was an uphill battle but it yielded the 1972 film that remains one of the greatest of all time.

The series stars Miles Teller as Albert S. Ruddy, Matthew Goode as Robert Evans, Juno Temple as Bettye McCartt, Giovanni Ribisi as Joe Colombo, Dan Fogler as Francis Ford Coppola, Burn Gorman as Charles Bluhdorn, Colin Hanks as Barry Lapidus and Patrick Gallo as Mario Puzo.

The limited event series is created and written by Oscar and Emmy-nominated writer Michael Tolkin (“Escape at Dannemora,” “The Player”) and also written and executive produced by Nikki Toscano (“Hunters”), who serves as showrunner.

Burn Gorman plays Charles Bluhdorn, the volatile head of Gulf & Western. He added Paramount to the G&W roster in 1966, playing a critical role in supporting its bumpy journey from last to first place among Hollywood studios. "The Mad Austrian" butted heads with Evans, Ruddy, and everyone else around him.

Gorman’s other notable roles include Owen Harper in the BBC series Torchwood, Phillip Stryver in The Dark Knight Rises, Karl Tanner in the HBO series Game of Thrones, Hermann Gottlieb in Pacific Rim and its sequel Pacific Rim: Uprising, and Major Edmund Hewlett in the AMC series Turn: Washington's Spies.

Goode is Robert Evans, the legendary producer and studio executive. Best known for his film roles in Match Point, Imagine Me and You, Watchmen, A Single Man, Stoker, and The Imitation Game, Goode was recently seen in the Kingsman prequel The King’s Man.

His TV credits include playing Henry Talbot in the final season of BBC’s historical drama Downton Abbey, Finley "Finn" Polmar in the CBS legal drama The Good Wife, and Antony Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon in the Netflix biographical drama series The Crown. Besides The Offer, Goode also stars in Sky One's fantasy-romance series, A Discovery of Witches, as Professor Matthew Clairmont.

Hanks plays the straight-aced Gulf & Western exec and fictional character Barry Lapidus, a perpetual skeptic who—along with other number crunchers at G&W—made it his mission to foil The Godfather every step of the way. (He thought it was too long, too expensive, miscast, slow-moving, and would be the ruin of both Paramount and its parent company.)

Among Hanks’ film credits areOrange County, King Kong, The House Bunny, The Great Buck Howard, and the Jumanji film series.

The trio spoke with Blackfilmandtv.com’s Wilson Morales on their roles and capturing the essence of those real life men.
