Exclusive: Chevalier cast interviews with Kelvin Harrison, Jr., Lucy Boynton, Samara Weaving, director Stephen Williams and writer/ producer Stefani Robinson

Now playing in theaters from Searchlight Pictures is Chevalier, directed by filmmaker Stephen Williams from a screenplay is written by Stefani Robinson. She's also one of the films producers along with Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, and Dianne McGunigle.

The cast includes Kelvin Harrison Jr., Lucy Boynton , Samara Weaving, Minnie Driver, Marton Csokas, Sian Clifford, Alec Newman, Ronke Adekoluejo, and Alex Fitzalan.

Based on the incredible true story of famed composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. The illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner, Bologne (Kelvin Harrison Jr. in a tour de force performance) rises to improbable heights in French society as a celebrated violinist-composer and fencer, complete with an ill-fated love affair and a falling out with Marie Antoinette (Lucy Boynton) herself and her court.

The music is composed by Kris Bowers and Michael Abels.

Since his breakthrough role in the 2017 horror film It Comes at Nighpposidet, Harrison Jr. has gone on and gained wider recognition for his work in Luce, Waves, The Photograph, The High Note, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Cyrano, and most recently Elvis, where he played B.B. King.

Boynton’s most notable credits include the musical film Sing Street, Don’t Knock Twice, playing Countess Andrenyi in Murder on the Orient Express, Mary Austin in the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, and more recently Astrid Sloan in the Netflix series The Politician. She also appeared in Netflix’s The Pale Blue Eye opposite Christian Bale.

Most recently seen in Scream VI, Weaving plays Marie-Josephine de Montalembert Although her previous film and television credits include the first season of the series Ash vs Evil Dead, being a series regular on SMILF, she gained acclaimed for the horror film Ready or Not, followed by roles in the miniseries Picnic at Hanging Rock, Hollywood, and Nine Perfect Strangers. She also played Scarlett in Snake Eyes and appeared in Babylon opposite Brad Pitt.

Prior to Chevalier, Williams had directed films such as Soul Survivor and Shadow Zone: My Teacher Ate My Homework, and has a bulk of TV episodes under his belt from "Crossing Jordan", "Lost", "Zero Hour", "Person of Interest", "The Walking Dead", "How to Get Away with Murder", "Ray Donovan", "Counterpart", "Westworld", & "Watchmen."

Robinson is best known for her work on FX's Atlanta, for which she won two Writers Guild of America Awards, and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Robinson is currently a writer and executive producer for the FX television series What We Do in The Shadows, for which she received Emmy nominations for writing, and for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2020 and 2022.
