Exclusive: Dave Franco and Jamie Foxx talk Day Shift, Vampires, working w/ Snoop Dogg & Meagan Good

Hitting Netflix on August 12 is the action film titled Day Shift, a new vampire hunter thriller from a stuntman named JJ Perry making his feature directorial debut and starring Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco.

Bud Jablonski (Jamie Foxx) is a blue-collar dad hoping to provide a good life for his quick-witted daughter Paige (Zion Broadnax) and to stay in the good graces of his estranged wife Jocelyn (Meagan Good). His mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income: hunting and killing vampires. Since being thrown out of the more lucrative international union of vampire hunters for code violations, Jablonski has been making a living selling fangs to black-market buyers like Troy (Peter Stormare).

But when Jocelyn threatens to move Paige to Florida due to financial concerns, Bud has to make money fast and asks to be reinstated in the union with the help of his vampire hunting pal Big John (Snoop Dogg). Hardass union boss Seeger (Eric Lange) agrees on the condition
that Bud is babysat by nerdy union rep Seth (Dave Franco). But when Bud pisses off
Audrey (Karla Souza), the most dangerous vampire in Southern California, she seeks
vengeance on Bud and everyone in his world.

The film also stars Karla Souza, Meagan Good, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Oliver Masucci, Snoop Dogg, Steve Howey, Scott Adkins, and Zion Broadnax.

For Foxx, this is the second film he has had under his deal for Netflix. He starred in the action-thriller Project Power and recently had the Dad Stop Embarrassing Me series. He will next be seen in the They Cloned Tyrone film. He was last seen voicing the lead character in the film Soul for Disney+.

Franco was last seen in the Apple TV+ murder mystery comedy series The Afterparty, from creators Chris Miller and Phil Lord. He made his directorial debut The Rental, which starred Dan Stevens and Allison Brie. He is set to star as Vanilla Ice in an untitled biopic he is also producing.
