Exclusive: Deborah Cox talks Tubi's Sidelined: The QB and Me
Hitting Tubi on Nov. 29 is Sidelined: The QB and Me, directed by Justin Wu and starring Siena Agudong, Noah Beck, Drew Ray Tanner, with Deborah Cox and James Van Der Beek.
Based on the breakout YA novel “The QB Bad Boy and Me” by Tay Marley, the teleplay was written by Mary Gulino and Crystal Ferreiro.
Dallas (Siena Agudong), a burdened but headstrong dancer, is determined to get into the best dance school in the country—her late mother’s alma mater. But that dream is suddenly derailed when the cheeky yet secretly grieving high-school heartthrob, Drayton (Noah Beck), crashes into her life with a unique story of his own. Will the two of them grow into their dreams together or will they be sidelined?
Cox plays Miss Alicia, the dance studio owner. Cox recently played the the role of Glinda in the Broadway revival of The Wiz. A recording artist, Cox has had six top 20 Billboard R&B singles and 13 No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play Chart, including the hits “Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here” and “We Can’t Be Friends.” Screen credits include BET’s First Wives Club and the HBO MAX series Station Eleven.
