Exclusive: Director Charles Murray and Michael Ealy talk The Devil You Know

Currently in theaters is writer-director Charles Murray’s thriller The Devil You Know, starring Omar Epps and Michael Ealy. Hitting theaters April 1, 2022, the film also stars Will Catlett, Glynn Turman, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Theo Rossi, BJ Britt, Vaughn Hebron, Erica Tazel, Curtiss Cook, Keisha Epps, and Ashley Williams.

In The Devil You Know, Marcus Cowans (Omar Epps) – after a lifetime of trouble – finally has the chance to turn things around with the support of his loving family. But when Marcus discovers that one of his three brothers (Will Catlett) might be involved in a heinous crime, he finds himself not only at odds with his brother, but also in the crosshairs of a very driven cop (Michael Ealy). As Marcus tries to do right, he finds himself spiraling into the dark place he and his family fought so hard for him to overcome.

The film was produced by Roy Scott MacFarland, Jackie J. Stone, Marc Danon, and Charles Murray. Executive producers include Omar Epps, Michael Ealy, Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor, Tyler Gould, and Sam Levine.

For Murray, this is his fourth feature that he has directed. His previous films were A Cold Hard Truth, The Summoning, and Things Never Said. In between those films, he had written episodes for Third Watch, Day Break, Criminal Minds, Castle, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Sons of Anarchy. He also produced episodes for TV shows, including Killer Instinct, Day Break, Criminal Minds, Castle, V, and Sons of Anarchy.

For Ealy, who also helped executive produce the film, he was last seen in a recurring role on Peacock’s Bel-Air. He can also be seen in Netflix’s The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window. His most recent film credits include Fatale with Hilary Swank and Really Love with Kofi Siriboe.
