Exclusive: Director Fede Álvarez talks Alien: Romulus and why it comes in between the 1st two films
Hitting theaters on August 16 is Alien: Romulus, the seventh movie in the Alien franchise. Co-written and directed by Fede Álvarez, the cast includes Cailee Spaeny, Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, & Aileen Wu.
The highly anticipated sci-fi / horror-thriller takes the phenomenally successful Alien franchise back to its roots: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe. The film is set between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986).
The screenplay is written by Fede Álvarez and Rodo Sayagues. Based on the characters created by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett. Produced by Ridley Scott and Michael Pruss for Scott Free Productions and 20th Century Studios.
Álvarez previously directed Evil Dead (2013), Don't Breathe, and The Girl in the Spider's Web.
