Exclusive: Halle Berry, Mark Wahlberg, Mike Colter talk Netflix action thriller film The Union

Hitting Netflix on August 16 is the action thriller The Union, directed by British filmmaker Julian Farino, and starring Halle Berry, Mike Colter, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jessica De Gouw, Alice Lee, Jackie Earle Haley, and J.K. Simmons.

Mike (Mark Wahlberg) is happy living a simple life as a construction worker in his native New Jersey – until his long-lost high school sweetheart, Roxanne (Halle Berry), shows up with more on her mind than romance. Knowing he’s the right man for the job, she recruits Mike on a dangerous intelligence mission in Europe that thrusts them back together into a world of spies and high-speed car chases, with sparks flying along the way.

The screenplay is written by Joe Barton and David Guggenheim; from a story by first-time screenwriter David Guggenheim. It's produced by Stephen Levinson, Mark Wahlberg, and Jeff G. Waxman

For Berry, it’s a return to the action drama since she made her directorial debut in Bruised after appearing opposite Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. She was last seen in Roland Emmerich’s sci-fi film Moonfall with Patrick Wilson. She will next be seen in the survival horror film Never Let Go, directed by Alexandre Aja and co-starring Percy Daggs IV and Anthony B. Jenkins.

This is Wahlberg’s second film he’s done with Netflix. He previously worked with Winston Duke on Spenser Confidential, inspired by the Robert B. Parker Spenser For Hire novels. He recently produced and starred in Arthur the King.

Colter is coming off his four year stint in CBS/Paramount+ series Evil. He previously played Luke Cage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in the Netflix television series Luke Cage.
