Exclusive: Djimon Hounsou talks The King's Man and doing action films for nearly 20 years

Hitting US Theaters on Dec. 22 from 20th Century Studios is “The King’s Man,” a prequel to Matthew Vaughn’s “Kingsman” films set in the World War 1 era and bringing historical villains to life with larger-than-life personas and Vaughn’s signature style and thrilling action.

“The King’s Man” is directed by Matthew Vaughn and stars Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, with Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance.

For Hounsou, who’s received Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor nominations for his performances in In America and Blood Diamond, he’s no strangers to action films; having appeared in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life, The island, Never Back Down, Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious, and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. Whether the role is lead or supporting, Hounsou always come and gives his all to the what the role calls for.

In speaking with Blackfilmandtv.com correspondent Sidnee Michelle, Hounsou talks about his love for action films, and how he personally relates to some of the scenes in The King’s Man.
