Exclusive: Julianne Moore talks Stephen King's Lisey's Story and working with Clive Owen again after Children of Men
Coming out this on Apple TV+ is the highly anticipated limited series “Lisey’s Story,” based on the best-selling novel, and adapted and written by author Stephen King. Starring Academy Award-winner Julianne Moore and Academy Award-nominee Clive Owen, the eight-episode Apple Original series will premiere globally on Friday, June 4, 2021, with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Friday.
Directed by Pablo Larraín, “Lisey’s Story” is a deeply personal, pensive thriller that follows Lisey Landon (played by Moore) two years after the death of her husband, famous novelist Scott Landon (played by Owen). A series of unsettling events causes Lisey to face memories of her marriage to Scott that she has deliberately blocked out of her mind. Joan Allen, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Dane DeHaan, Ron Cephas Jones and Sung Kang also star alongside Moore and Owen.
Having done plenty of films in her career, including winning an Oscar for ‘Still Alice,’ it’s very rare to see Julianne Moore do a series. Although she’s played herself in other programs and appeared in six episodes of NBC’s 30 Rock, the last time Moore starred in a series was over 30 years ago when she did 1987’s I'll Take Manhattan miniseries, adapted from Judith Krantz's 1986 novel of the same name. With Lisey’s Story, Moore gets to reunite with Clive Owen, whom she starred with in Alfonso Cuarón’s 2006 Children of Men. In speaking with BlackFilmandTV.com’s Wilson Morales, Moore talks about working in Lisey’s Story, which Stephen King adapted from his own novel and working with Owen again.
