Exclusive: Kristen Stewart, Katy O’Brian, and director Rose Glass talk Love Lies Bleeding

Hitting limited theaters from A24 on March 8, 2024, before expanding wide on March 15 is the romantic thriller Love Lies Bleeding, directed by Rose Glass and starring Kristen Stewart, Katy O'Brian, Jena Malone, Anna Baryshnikov, Dave Franco, and Ed Harris. Set in the 1980s, it chronicles the relationship between a reclusive gym manager with a crime family and an ambitious bodybuilder.

Reclusive gym manager Lou falls hard for Jackie, an ambitious bodybuilder headed through town to Las Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But their love ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family.

Stewart landed her first Oscar nomination for portraying future Princess of Wales Diane Spencer in the biopic Spencer, directed by Pablo Larrain. Prior to that, she starred in the holiday rom-com Happiest Season and Charlie’s Angels.

For Glass, an English writer/director, this is her second directorial film after receiving acclam on the 2019 psychological horror film “Saint Maud, starring Morfydd Clark” The movie earned Glass the Douglas Hickox Award for best debut director at the British Independent Film Awards, on top of 15 other nominations. It was also nominated for a BAFTA for outstanding British film of the year as well as outstanding debut by a British writer, director or producer. 

This marks O’Brian’s first major film role.. Her film credits include recurring roles on Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” Lucasfilm’s “The Mandalorian” and HBO’s “Westworld.”

Producers on Love Lies Bleeding include Andrea Cornwell and Oliver Kassman, Glass’ producers on “Saint Maud.”
