Exclusive: Manuel Garcia-Rulfo talks The Lincoln Lawyer and being in a leading role
Now playing on Netflix from creator David E. Kelley is THE LINCOLN LAWYER series, starring Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Angus Sampson, and Jazz Raycole. Also in the cast are Christopher Gorham, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Krista Warner, Jamie McShane, Michael Graziadei, LisaGay Hamilton, and Reggie Lee.
The Lincoln Lawyer novels follow Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), the half-brother of LAPD detective Harry Bosch (played over on Amazon by Titus Welliver) and an iconoclastic idealist who runs his law practice out of the back seat of his Lincoln Town Car, as he takes on cases big and small across the expansive city of Los Angeles. “Manuel is the ideal Mickey Haller, as Haller follows in the footsteps of his attorney father with the showmanship of his Mexican movie star mother,” says Connelly. “Manuel brings a powerful dynamic and dimension to the role — one that aligns with the books and will give the show the opportunity to celebrate the Latinx heritage and roots of this Los Angeles-based story.”
Based on The Brass Verdict, the second book in The Lincoln Lawyer series by Michael Connelly.
Connelly is an executive producer and writer on the series. The series was developed for television by Ted Humphrey who serves as showrunner, executive producer and writer. Ross Fineman and Kelley are also executive producers.
Garcia-Rulfo is best known for his role as Vasquez in The Magnificent Seven remake and Gallo in Sicario: Day of the Soldado. He was also seen in features Greyhound and 6 Underground, and his TV credits also include From Dusk to Dawn: The Series and Goliath.
