Exclusive: Rayan Lawrence on playing K-9 in BMF Season 2

Now playing on Starz is the second hit season of BMF, which dramatizes the inspiring true story of two brothers Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory (Demetrius Flenory, Jr.) and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory (Da’Vinchi), who rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late ’80s and gave birth to one of the most influential crime families in the country, Black Mafia Family.

The cast includes Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr., Da’Vinchi, Michole Briana White, Myles Truitt, Steve Harris, Kelly Hu, La La Anthony, Arkeisha “Kash Doll” Knight, Christine Horn, Sydney Mitchell, Rayan Lawrence, Serayah, Caresha “Yung Miami'' Brownlee, Mo’Nique and Laila Pruitt.

Playing the role of K-9, the ruthless gang leader that Big Meech has alligned himself to this season is actor Rayan Lawrence. Having done numerous guest spots of various TV programs such as Ironside, Blue Bloods, Underground, FBI, Power, Magnum P.I., and A Luv Tale: The Series, his current character is his biggest role to date. Among his film credits are Pimp, All Eyez On Me, The Man in 3B, and Driving While Black.

Blackfilmandtv.com’s Wilson Morales caught up with the Brooklyn, NY native as he spoke about getting the role, getting into character, and the grind of staying in the business.
