Exclusive: Tobi Bamtefa on playing Bunny & working with Jeremy Renner in Mayor of Kingstown Season 2

Currently playing on Paramount+ is the second season of creator Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon’s acclaimed drama series, Mayor of Kingstown, starring Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner and Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest.

Mayor of Kingstown follows the McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither. The series also stars Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Nishi Munshi, Hamish Allan-Headley and Aidan Gillen.

In episode 3, directed by Tasha Smith, Mike asks for help in finding Iris, and later takes matters into his own hands. A move by Robert and his team puts Mike’s larger plan in jeopardy. Kyle has a request for Kingstown PD.

Bamtefa plays local gang leader Deverin "Bunny" Washington, who spends his days sitting on a lawn chair selling drugs he has in coolers next to him out in the open. Bunny has a good relationship with Mike and is the closest thing to a friend that Mike has. His other film and TV credits include The Girlfriend Experience, The Witcher and Berlin Station.

BlackFilmandTV.com’s Wilson Morales recently caught up with Bamtefa as he spoke about his role this season and working with Jeremy Renner, whom he shares most of his scenes with.
