Exclusive: Sinqua Walls talks Netflix's action thriller film Carry-On
Currently playing on Netflix is the action thriller Carry-On, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and starring Taron Egerton, Sofia Carson, Danielle Deadwyler, Logan Marshall-Green, Dean Norris, Sinqua Walls, Gil Perez-Abraham, Tonatiuh, Curtiss Cook, Theo Rossi, Joe Williamson and Jason Bateman.
From a script written by TJ Fixman, “Carry-On” follows young TSA agent Ethan (Taron Egerton) who is blackmailed into an impossible situation by a mysterious traveler (Jason Bateman) at the height of Christmas Eve travel pandemonium: Either let a dangerous package slip through security and risk the lives of many or save the passengers and risk the life of his pregnant girlfriend. Sinqua plays Ethan’s best friend and the lead TSO, Jason Noble.
This year Sinqua can also be seen starring alongside Kevin Hart, Samuel L. Jackson, Taraji P. Henson, and Don Cheadle in the Peacock limited TV series “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist,” created by Shaye Ogbonna. Based on the acclaimed iHeart true-crime podcast, the series follows the infamous story of how an armed robbery on the night of Muhammad Ali’s historic 1970 comeback fight changed not only one man’s life but ultimately transformed Atlanta. Sinqua plays McKinley Rogers, one of three men who were eventually indicted in the Atlanta Heist. The series premiered on September 5, 2024 on Peacock.
Previous credits for Sinqua include starring as the co-lead of the 20th Century Studios/Hulu film “White Men Can’t Jump.” An homage to the original 90s comedy, Sinqua plays Kamal opposite Jack Harlow in the Kenya Barris penned remake. He also played a lead role in Tim Story’s buzzy comedy “The Blackening” for Lionsgate, and opposite Brian Cox in the indie dramatic two-hander “Mending the Line,” now available on Netflix.
Prior to this, Sinqua notably played ‘Malik’ in the 2022 Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner, “Nanny,” directed by Nikyatu Jusu. On the TV side, he previously starred as the lead of the biographical limited series “American Soul,” embodying the legendary Don Cornelius. Other TV credits include “Power,” and “Friday Night Lights.”
