Exclusive: Taron Egerton, Sofia Carson and Danielle Deadwyler talk Carry-On

Hitting Netflix on Dec. 13 is the action thriller Carry-On, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and starring Taron Egerton, Sofia Carson, Danielle Deadwyler, Logan Marshall-Green, Dean Norris, Sinqua Walls, Gil Perez-Abraham, Tonatiuh, Curtiss Cook, Theo Rossi, Joe Williamson and Jason Bateman.

From a script written by TJ Fixman, the thriller centers on Ethan Kopek, a young TSA agent who gets blackmailed by a mysterious traveler to let a dangerous package slip through security and onto a Christmas Day flight.

Holly Bario, Amblin’s president of production, oversaw the project on behalf of the studio. Brian Williams exec produces via Dylan Clark Productions as will Scott Greenberg and Seth William Meier.

Egerton is best known for his turn as secret service recruit Gary “Eggsy” Unwin in the Kingsman franchise and his performance as rock legend Elton John in Rocketman. He also starred as Jimmy Keene in the miniseries Black Bird, for which he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award, and as Henk Rogers in the biopic Tetris.

This is Carson’s first film following the success of the smash hit Netflix film Purple Hearts. She also served as executive producer and co-wrote and performed the film’s original soundtrack. Purple Hearts debuted at #1 globally and broke multiple viewing records on Netflix. It is one of the Top 10 most-watched films of all time on Netflix with over 220 million hours viewed in its first 28 days.

Deadwyler can also be seen in the screen adaptation of August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson, opposite John David Washington. Deadwyler gained praise for starring in the western film The Harder They Fall and the biopic Till, where her portrayal of Mamie Till in Till earned her many accolades, including a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
