Exclusive: Thomas Q. Jones talks Johnson Season 2 and coming back as Mane in P-Valley Season 2

Currently airing on Sundays on Bounce TV is the second season to its dramedy series Johnson, in which former NFL player-turned-actor Thomas Q. Jones is one of stars, executive producer, and co-showrunner of the series.

The cast includes  Deji LaRay, who created the dramedy, alongside Thomas Q. Jones, D.L. Hughley, Derrex Brady,  Philip A. Smithey. and new to the cast Terri J. Vaughn.

Four Black men, Omar, Greg, Keith and Jarvis met in grade school and have been best friends ever since, and they all just so happened to have the same last name, Johnson...no relation. After 25 years of friendship, they are finding themselves in vastly different places in their lives, threatening the unity that has always been so strong. They confront and find humor in the most current controversial social issues from the Black Man's perspective, ranging from love, marriage, business, politics and religion.

Before playing the role of Omar on Johnson, Jones had appeared in numerous TV shows and films such as Straight Outta Compton, P-Valley, Tales, Luke Cage, Shameless, Being Mary Jane, Runaway Island and A Violent Man. He recently reprised his role as Mane in the second season of Starz’s P-Valley. Off the set, he is co-founder and CEO JoinLevel, LLC, and is the co-founder and Executive Producer of Midnight Train Productions.

Prior to his acting career, Jones had a historic career as a running back for 12 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Virginia. He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals and played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in addition to the New York Jets, Chicago Bears and Kansas City Chiefs. He retired among the top 25 leading rushers in NFL history and a member of the 10,000 rushing yards club. In 2019 he was nominated for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2020.

Blackfilmandtv.com’s Wilson Morales caught up with Jones as he spoke about the second season, being a showrunner and coming back as Mane to fans’ delight.
