Exclusive: Tye Sheridan on working with director Paul Schrader in The Card Counter

Coming out this week from Focus Features is the revenge thriller The Card Counter, written and directed by Academy Award nominee Paul Schrader and starring Oscar Isaac, Tiffany Haddish, Tye Sheridan, and Willem Dafoe. With Martin Scorsese as one of the executive producers, Focus Features will release THE CARD COUNTER in theaters on September 10, 2021.

Tell (Isaac) just wants to play cards. His spartan existence on the casino trail is shattered when he is approached by Cirk (Sheridan), a vulnerable and angry young man seeking help to execute his plan for revenge on a military colonel (Dafoe). Tell sees a chance at redemption through his relationship with Cirk. But keeping Cirk on the straight-and-narrow proves impossible, dragging Tell back into the darkness of his past.

Since making his film debut at the age of 11 in Terrence Malick’s Tree of Life opposite Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, and Jessica Chastain, Tye Sheridan has had the pleasure with some of the best directors in Hollywood or has had leading roles in noteworthy films such as Jeff Nichol’s directed film Mud, David Gordon Green-directed film Joe, Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Ernest Cline’s best-seller Ready Player One, and Steven Soderbergh’s Wireless. BlackFilmandTV.com’s Wilson Morales recently caught up with Sheridan as he spoke about working with Paul Schrader on his latest film.
