Exclusive: UnPrisoned interviews with Creator Tracy McMillan, and cast members Kerry Washington, Delroy Lindo, Marque Richardson and more

Now playing on Hulu is the new half-hour comedy series, UnPrisoned, created and executive produced by Tracy McMillan and Executive Producer/Star Kerry Washington, Executive Producer/Star Delroy Lindo, Marque Richardson, Faly Rakotohavana, and Jordyn McIntosh. The 8-episode scripted series was produced by ABC Signature. All episodes were exclusively on Hulu in the U.S. on March 10th.

Inspired by Tracy McMillan’s life, UnPrisoned is a half-hour comedy about a messy but perfectionist relationship therapist and single mom whose life is turned right-side-up when her dad gets out of prison and moves in with her and her teenage son. Kerry Washington plays Paige Alexander, a marriage and family therapist, and mom to 16-year-old Finn. Delroy Lindo stars as Edwin Alexander, Paige’s father, who has recently been released from prison.

The story of UnPrisoned is the reality of millions of families who are affected by the criminal justice system in the United States. According to the ACLU Mass incarceration has grown 500% over the last 50 years, with over 2 million people in this country incarcerated today. With this series, McMillan creates flawed but lovable characters from a place of empathy, humor, and soul to honor the families that mass incarceration affects most.

Blackfilmandtv.com's Wilson Morales talks to Unprisoned cast member and EP Kerry Washington, Delroy Lindo, Creator Tracy McMillan, and cast Marque Richardson, Faly Rakotohavana, and Jordyn McIntosh.
