Exclusive: Swarm interviews with Dominique Fishback, Chlöe Bailey, and Co-Creator Janine Nabers

Currently playing on Prime Video is the original psychological horror thriller series, Swarm, from Showrunner/Co-Creator/Executive Producer Janine Nabers ("Atlanta") and Co-Creator/Executive Producer Donald Glover. The cast includes Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah), Chloë Bailey (“Grown-ish”) and Damson Idris (“Snowfall”). Also appearing in supporting roles are Billie Eilish and Paris Jackson.

The series tells the story of Dre, a young woman who is obsessed with a fictional pop star (whose oeuvre and aesthetic are very similar to that of American singer Beyoncé), with a fanbase known as "The Swarm" (with Beyoncé’s fan base also known as the "Bey Hive"). The show is a dive into Dre's life, her fandom, and how it takes her to dark, unexpected places.

All seven episodes were released on Prime Video on March 17, 2023.

Fishback play Andrea “Dre” Greene, a young woman obsessed with Ni’Jah, a superstar music artist, who starts to take a wild and murderous turn for the worst. Chloe Bailey is Marissa Jackson, Dre's sister and Damson Idris plays Khalid, Marissa's boyfriend.

Fishback, who also stars in the upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Beasts movie, is also a producer on the series. Her most recent TV and film credits include the Apple TV+ series The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey opposite Samuel L. Jackson and Judas and the Black Messiah, which earned her a nomination for a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Bailey is best known for being one half of the musical duo Chloe x Halle with her sister Halle Bailey. From Seasons 1 - 4, she played Jazlyn Forster on the Freeform series Grown-ish and starred in the psychological thriller Jane.

Nabers' television writing credits include Bravo's first scripted series Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce, Lifetime's UnREAL, AMC's Dietland, and FX’s Atlanta.

Blackfilmandtv.com’s Wilson Morales spoke with Chlöe Bailey, Dominique Fishback and Co-Creator Janine Nabers about Swarm.
