Exclusive: Mickey Guyton on being the First Black woman to host the Academy of Country Music Awards

New Female Artist of the Year nominee Mickey Guyton, will host the 56TH Academy of Country Music Awards, honoring the biggest names and emerging talent in Country Music. Mark Urban returns for his second year after hosting the 55th ACM Awards in September, while this marks Guyton’s first time hosting the ACM Awards and the 29th time multiple hosts have taken the ACM Awards stage.

Guyton’s song include "Better Than You Left Me," "Black Like Me," and she was also featured on the #1 Canadian country hit "Boys" with Dean Brody, which made her the first Black woman to achieve a Number One on the Canada Country chart.

CBS presents the 56th ACM Awards® live from three iconic country music venues: the Grand Ole Opry House, Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium and The Bluebird Cafe Sunday, April 18 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.

BlackFilmandTV.com correspondent Sidnee Michelle spoke to Guyton on being the 1st Black woman to ever host the Academy of Country Music Awards. Mickey is also in the Academy’s leadership as a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce.
