Exclusive: Ruby Rose Talks Action Thriller ‘Vanquish’ & Working With Morgan Freeman
Hitting Select Theaters April 16, then On Demand and Digital on April 20 from Lionsgate is the action thriller Vanquish, directed by George Gallo (The Comeback Trail, Midnight Run) and starring Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby) and Ruby Rose (Batwoman).
The film also stars Patrick Muldoon, Julie Lott, Ekaterina Baker, Nick Vallelonga, Joel Michaely, and Miles Doleac.
Written by Gallo and Samuel Bartlett from Bartlett’s original story, Vanquish shows what desperation can drive a person to do. A mother, Victoria (Rose), is trying to put her dark past as a Russian drug courier behind her, but retired cop Damon (Freeman) forces Victoria to do his bidding by holding her daughter hostage. Now, Victoria must use guns, guts, and a motorcycle to take out a series of violent gangsters — or she may never see her child again.
Best known for her role in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black, Rose has also had large roles in the action films Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, XXX: Return of Xander Cage and John Wick: Chapter 2. She co-starred in the musical comedy Pitch Perfect 3 and the monster film The Meg . She also starred in the lead role of Kate Kane / Batwoman in the first season of the CW television series Batwoman (2019–20).
