Aldis Hodge to Play Hawkman in DC Films’ ‘Black Adam’ Starring Dwayne Johnson
Variety has confirmed Aldis Hodge play DC Comics superhero Hawkman in the New Line production of “Black Adam,” starring Dwayne Johnson as the titular anti-hero and Noah Centineo as the superhero Atom Smasher.. The movie is slated to debut on December 22nd 2021. Jaume Collet-Serra is helming the feature.
In the comics, Black Adam has powers equal to Superman though is blessed by magic and is a rebellious one-of-a-kind guy who does things his way.
During DC Fandome, it was announced that Justice Society members Hawkman, Atom Smasher, Doctor Fate and Cyclone. "Welcome to truth, justice, and the Black Adam Way," Johnson teased.
Introduced in 1941 by Gardner Fox and Dennis Neville in Flash Comics #1, Hawkman was originally archaeologist Carter Hall, the reincarnation of ancient Egyptian prince Khufu, who was murdered with his consort Chay-Ara. Reunited in the modern day they fought crime as Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Subsequent revamps of the origin made Hawkman instead a fierce warrior from the planet Thanagar.
Hodge most recently starred in “The Invisible Man” and won acclaim for his upcoming performance as Jim Brown in “One Night in Miami.” Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani (“Informer”) wrote the latest draft of the script, from a previous draft by Adam Sztykiel (“Rampage”)
