Character Posters To Dune
Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures has released character posters to Dune, director Denis Villeneuve’s (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049) big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s seminal bestseller. Dune is currently set to be released in theaters on December 18, 2020.
The star-studded cast includes Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible — Fallout), Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), Josh Brolin (Avengers: Endgame), Stellan Skarsgård (Thor: The Dark World), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Stephen McKinley Henderson (Fences), Zendaya (Spider-Man: Far From Home), Chang Chen (Love And Destiny), Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Sex Education), with Charlotte Rampling (The Night Porter), Jason Momoa (Aquaman) and Javier Bardem (No Country For Old Men).
A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, the Dune movie tells the story of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence — a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential — only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
Paul comes from a powerful galactic family with a name that sounds like a constellation—the House Atreides. His father and mother, Duke Leto (played by Oscar Isaac) and Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), take their son from their lush, Scandinavian-like home world to preside over spice extraction on Arrakis. What follows is a clash with the criminal, politically connected House Harkonnen, led by the monstrous Baron Vladimir (Stellan Skarsgård), a mammoth with merciless appetites.
Dave Bautista plays Baron’s murderous nephew, Glossu Rabban. Meanwhile, Charlotte Rampling will play the Reverend Mother Mohiam, who can divine intentions, and manipulate people’s emotional states on behalf of the emperor. Javier Bardem plays Stilgar, leader of the Fremen. Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Rogue One) plays Dr. Liet Kynes, the leading ecologist on Arrakis and an independent power broker amid the various warring factions. Paul is mentored by two bravado warriors Duncan Idaho and Gurney Halleck, played by Jason Momoa and Josh Brolin.
Zendaya is playing Chani, the girl of Paul’s dreams who takes on a leading role as his proper love interest in the next Dune film. That all depends if the film does well at the box office to warrant a sequel.
Villeneuve directed Dune from a screenplay he co-wrote with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts. The film is produced by Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Joe Caracciolo and Villeneuve. The executive producers are Tanya Lapointe, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, Thomas Tull, Jon Spaihts, Richard P. Rubinstein, John Harrison and Herbert W. Gains, with Kevin J. Anderson serving as creative consultant.
