For Your Consideration: Dr. Louis Deon Jones-Bond’s Justified

Today is the last day (12/9 - 12/13) for films to be considered for the shortlist of Best Live Action Short Film at the upcoming 97th Academy Awards. The 15 films that make the shortlist will be announced on Dec. 17th.

Among the films in contention is Justified, written, directed, and produced by Emmy-Award Winner Dr. Louis Deon Jones-Bond.

The cast includes Jaquan Solomon, Kiana Clemente, Logan Hunt, and Justin Park.

Keith Smith, a young army veteran, moves to a new neighborhood, eager to start a fresh chapter in his life. Accompanied by his loyal dog, Keith explores his surroundings, hoping to adjust to his new environment peacefully. However, an ordinary walk takes a dark turn when he encounters his neighbor, John Davenport. John, an older man with a short temper, becomes irate when Keith’s doesn’t immediately curb his dog, sparking a heated argument. The tension quickly escalates, with John’s confrontational demeanor pushing Keith to his limits. A physical altercation ensues on the front lawn, and in the chaos, causing an unintentionally outcome.

Though all signs point to self-defense, Keith soon finds himself entangled in a legal battle where the system works relentlessly to paint a different story. As the investigation unfolds, Keith is portrayed as a violent threat rather than a man defending himself. The search for evidence against Keith is the focus, and doubts are sown, creating a climate of suspense and mistrust. The story progresses with mounting tension, leaving the audience unsure of how justice will be served. In a stunning twist, long-buried secrets about John and the neighborhood are unveiled, leading to a gripping and unexpected conclusion.

Producers also include Tsalta Baptiste and Yusuf Reown
