Premiering on BET+ on June 3 is A Luv Tale: The Series, written and created by Sidra Smith and starring Sheria Irving (as Taylor), Vanessa Williams (as Candice), Leon (as George), Rotimi Akinosho (as Jake), Amber Whittington (as Aklia), Tanairi Vasquez (as Tammy), Valarie Pettiford (as Diana), Victor Williams (as Preston), Denyce Lawton (as Mercedes), Laura Dias (as Michelle), and Rayan Lawrence (as Ken).
Opening with a steamy flirtation between Taylor (Sheria Irving) and Candice (Vanessa Williams), A Luv Tale: The Series takes the audience on a clever and engaging journey full of twists and turns, melodrama, and sexy encounters. Set in historic Harlem and reminiscent of the classic ‘90s film Love Jones, these sumptuous six episodes offer a fresh look at several stunning queer women of color as they navigate their friendships, love lives, and artistic careers.
Leon plays George, the sex-starved husband of Candice (Vanessa Williams), a bi-curious woman who begins an affair with a significantly younger, out lesbian named Taylor (Sheria Irving).
Directed by Kay Oyegun (NBC’s This Is Us) and based on the award-winning romantic comedy A Luv Tale from writer and creator Sidra Smith, this series continues the story and takes a contemporary, stylish glimpse at what it means to be a queer woman of color in the modern world with sharp humor and biting wit.
The series also features original music by Grammy award-winning songwriter and producer Wyclef Jean, Grammy award-winning jazz drummer, composer and producer, Terri Lyne Carrington, and pianist, composer, and producer, Ray Angry.
