Exclusive: Chukwudi Iwuji and Chris Pratt talk Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Hitting theaters on May 5 from Marvel Studios is action-packed “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” the final film in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, spearheaded by James Gunn.

In Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

The film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter and Maria Bakalova.

Iwuji plays The High Evolutionary, a scientist from Counter-Earth who created Rocket. It’s Iwuji ‘s second outing with James Gunn. He recently portrayed the original character Clemson Murn, leader of the black ops Project Butterfly team in Gunn’s Peacemaker series for HBO Max. Murn was revealed to be a Butterfly himself, before he’s killed. Chukwudi is one of the few actors to be in both the DC Universe and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

For Pratt, this is probably the end of a role that he’s played for nearly a decade when you also include the appearances he had in the last two Avengers films. Along with the Jurassic World trilogy, Pratt has had two franchises that made him one of the top internationally known actors. In recent years, Pratt has starred in The Tomorrow War and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. He’s also starring in the Prime Video series The Terminal List, which was renewed for a second season.

Blackfilmandtv.com’s Wilson Morales spoke with both Iwuji and Pratt on their roles in GOTG V.3, working with James Gunn and the songs they loved from the franchise.
