Exclusive: KiKi Layne talks Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers and getting ready for Old Guard 2

Coming out this week on Disney+ is the live-action/animated action-adventure comedy film Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, starring Andy Samberg, John Mulaney, KiKi Layne, Will Arnett, Seth Rogen, Eric Bana, Flula Borg, Keegan-Michael Key, Tim Robinson, J. K. Simmons, Chris Parnell, and Dennis Haysbert.“Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers” will premiere exclusively on Disney+ May 20, 2022. 

Thirty years after the Rescue Rangers series ended production, Chip (voice of Mulaney) works as an insurance salesman while Dale(voice of Sandberg) has had "CGI surgery" and works the convention circuit in hopes of reliving his glory days. When a cast member of the original series mysteriously disappears, Chip and Dale must reunite with the rest of the group, save their friend and rebuild the two’s friendship.

Layne plays Ellie Whitfield, a rookie detective and avid fangirl of the Rescue Rangers.

The film is directed by Akiva Schaffer (“Saturday Night Live”), written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand (“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”) and is produced by Todd Lieberman (“Wonder”) and David Hoberman (“Beauty and the Beast”), with Alexander Young (“Extinction”) and Tom Peitzman serving as executive producers. 

Layne is best known for her starring role in Barry Jenkins’ romantic drama If Beale Street Could Talk, the drama Native Son, and the action superhero film The Old Guard, opposite Charlize Theron. She was last seen playing one of Eddie Murphy’s daughters in the romantic comedy Coming 2 America. She will be reprising her role in Old Guard 2.
